Our Mission

  • To protect and enhance the environmental and recreational resources of the project
  • To provide the Lake Murray Community with accurate and up to date information on important issues
  • To provide Lake Murray users a voice in the management of public resources within the Saluda River Hydro Project.
  • To educate recreational users on what this project is and how they can participate in decision making processes.
  • To provide oversight and to ensure there is accountability as it relates to compliance with the federal license and other state and federal regulations.
  • To alert the public regarding applications for permitted uses of project lands and water. And to review those applications and comment to appropriate agencies.
  • To monitor certain protected lands to ensure compliance with federal license requirements.
  • To provide water quality monitoring check points at areas of concern.
  • To provide a method of recourse to resolve conflicts between the licensee and private citizens.
  • To work closely with state and federal agencies in promoting the health of the lake.
  • To develop a lakewide system of "watchers" to evaluate and respond to environmental issues.
  • To encourage lake front homeowners to renourishment shorelines by planting small plots of emergent vegetation.
